NADA Delegates Interact with the Finance Minister

A seven-member NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal delegation led by NADA Chairman Krishna Prasad Dulal met Hon'ble Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel on February 10th, 2021, and discussed current issues in the automobile business. During the meeting, NADA Chairman Dulal said that NADA believes in fair trade and discussed various issues related to the import of vehicles.During the discussion, NADA Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Vehicle Committee Karan Chaudhary said that the budget of the Fiscal Year 2077/78 stipulates that if a company that does not have an official dealer in Nepal can import a vehicle or a means of transportation by paying a 30 percent fine of the actual price. This will create an alarming situation where any vehicle appointed by the manufacturing company can be imported from any vendor without the manufacturing company having any information or liability.Similarly, Sunil Rijal, General Secretary of NADA and Chairman of the Spare Parts Committee, briefed the Hon'ble Minister about the problems seen in the import of spare parts.During the discussion, Hon'ble Finance Minister Poudel said that there is ample potential for electric vehicles in Nepal, and if the automobile businessmen will start the production of electric vehicles in Nepal, the government will formulate the necessary policies and regulations.NADA Chairman Krishna Prasad Dulal, Former Chairman Shambhu Prasad Dahal, Vice Chairman Karan Chaudhary, Akash Golchha, General Secretary Sunil Rijal, Secretary Anup Baral, and Co-Treasurer Bikram Singhania were also present at the discussion.
